Preventing Drunk Driving

For decades, we have supported programs and efforts to discourage and prevent drunk driving.

We wholeheartedly support national, state and local drunk-driving prevention programs that provide taxi service and other transportation alternatives, promote designated driving, address drinking at sports events, train alcohol beverage servers and sellers, and aggressively attack drunk driving in other ways.

1-800-TAXICAB

We partner with 1-800-TAXICAB®, a national taxi dispatch service, to encourage customers to plan ahead for safe alternative transportation home. Anyone can call 1-800-TAXICAB. It’s an easy-to-remember, free phone call that dispatches a taxi wherever and whenever a customer needs it. This national taxi-dispatch service operates in any market where taxi service currently exists.

Anna's Ride Home

The Anna Armstrong White Foundation operates Anna’s Ride Home in partnership with local bars and taxicab companies. The goal is to establish a way for people to enjoy themselves with our great beers, and then get home safely. We helped to launch this free cab voucher program, now in 32 bars in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. The program has kept more than 4,000 intoxicated drivers off the road since 2003.

Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers®

Planning ahead to choose a designated driver is the option most customers prefer when it comes to being safe and avoiding drunk driving. We partner with The Hero Campaign to encourage the use of designated drivers. The Hero Campaign was created in 2000 to honor the memory of U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman John Elliott, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver.

Keep Your Balance

We have partnered with the American Motorcycle Association to create this national program. It offers motorcyclists rewards for pledging to ride responsibly and it provides motorcycle safe-driving tips. The program also encourages safe alcohol consumption and offers resources such as prepaid phone cards and rider-training kits to promote safe rides. Learn more.

Respect the Road™

The majority of the 80 million Americans who drink beer do so responsibly. However, occasions arise when someone has had too much to drink and should not drive. Our Respect the Road™ program recognizes that drunk driving is completely preventable and promotes the use of designated drivers and transportation alternatives. Respect the Road encompasses three specific tools: The Keys to Responsibility guidebook, which promotes transportation alternatives and responsible decision-making; the Last Call: Safe Ride Home® program, which provides tools to set up free, reimbursed or reduced-fare cab rides home; and the Free Rides program, which provides free public transportation on popular holidays, such as New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day.

Safe Boating

To support the U.S. Coast Guard's "You're in Command. Boat Responsibly!" initiative, MillerCoors makes available a pamphlet identifying responsible boating practices and behaviors. The pamphlet and companion print ads were developed to help ensure that everyone has a safe time on the water. As with driving a car, operating a boat comes with safety concerns and personal responsibility. Together we can make boating occasions memorable for all the right reasons.

You Hold The Key...Never Drive Drunk

Customers hold the key to the prevention of drunk driving. It’s fundamental to plan ahead, specifically to arrange safe rides home by cab, public transportation or designated driver. Our “You Hold the Key...Never Drive Drunk” logo appears in company advertising. Customers in local markets see the logo with promotions that urge the use of cabs and designated drivers.
