Grambling State University and Southern University to Receive $20,000 for Scholarships
GOLDEN, Colo. (November 24, 2008) – MillerCoors announced today it would donate $10,000 each to Grambling State University and Southern University for student scholarships, as part of its on-going support of historically black colleges and universities (HBCU’s). The MillerCoors scholarships will be presented to each school following the State Farm Bayou Classic on Saturday, Nov. 29.
“MillerCoors is an ardent supporter of higher education and of all efforts to help young people realize their full potential,” Moses Brewer, MillerCoors multicultural relations manager, said. “We’re proud of our scholarship sponsorship to Grambling State and Southern University,” he added.
The 35-year-old Bayou Classic is the largest and oldest of America’s HBCU football classics. The annual contest between Southwestern Athletic Conference rivals, the Grambling Tigers and Southern University Jaguars, often draws more than 70,000 fans to watch the game live at the Louisiana Super Dome in New Orleans.
