COORS LIGHT BRINGS FanFare TO THE FLORIDA CLASSIC

Classic Rivals Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M to receive total of $20,000 for scholarships

 

Golden, Colo: (November 19, 2008) – Coors Light announced today that it will sponsor the 29th Annual Florida Classic presented by State Farm. As part of its sponsorship, Coors Light will create game excitement for Classic fans who are 21 and older with the Florida Classic FanFare-Coors Light Zone. The Zone will be open on game day and features an interactive EA Sports MADDEN gaming center.

Ervin Lee, director of African American brand marketing for MillerCoors, said it is not only about the fans – but about the importance of education. He said the two Classic rivals -- Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M -- will each receive $10,000 for scholarships.

“We believe education is vital to success in a competitive, global society,” Lee said.  “We’re proud to provide game day excitement for fans while we also support the educational goals of students at these two historically Black colleges and universities.”

Lee noted that Coors Light also will sponsor Connections, a business networking mixer, on Thurs., Nov. 20,; and an invitation-only Wal-Mart Welcome Reception hosted by Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Max Starks and Denver Broncos defensive end Kenard Lang, on Fri., Nov. 21.

The annual contest between the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats and Florida A&M Rattlers typically attracts more than 60,000 fans to watch the game live.  The 2008 Florida Classic will be held at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.  Kickoff time is 2:00 p.m. EST.
