Drunk Driving is 100 Percent Preventable

Drunk Driving Prevention

Drunk driving is completely preventable. We want people to get home safely, so we have developed several initiatives to help consumers choose safe alternatives to driving drunk:

10 Million Strong

At MillerCoors, we established a goal in 2009 to encourage 6 million people to plan ahead and take a safe ride home over the time period of 2009 to 2015. In 2011, we helped more than 3 million people with free rides, taxicab services or opportunities to drink responsibly and participate in a safe ride home program. Cumulatively, from 2009 through the end of 2011, we engaged more than 2.5 million people in planning ahead and taking a safe ride home. Rather than just celebrate our success in approaching our goal early, we set our standards higher. We have now raised the bar on our 2015 goal to target 10 million people.

MillerCoors is the exclusive sponsor of 1-800-TAXICAB, a toll-free phone number that connects passengers to locally owned taxicab companies. In 2011, consumers made 794,754 phone calls to 1-800-TAXICAB, visited the www.1800taxicab.com website more than 1.3 million times and used 1,877 discounted taxicab vouchers issued by MillerCoors.

Consumers with iPhones can also use our free Miller Lite Taxi Finder application, and those with other smart phones can go to www.MLtaxifinder.com or www.CLtaxifinder.com to get one-touch dialing for a nearby taxicab.

Miller Lite Free Rides

Miller Lite Free RidesTM program is one way people celebrating can get home safely on holidays and during special events, including New Year's Eve, St. Patrick's Day, the evening of the Kentucky Derby and Halloween. By working with transit authorities and other partners, we sponsor free bus, light rail and taxicab rides, as well as free shuttle service along designated routes in certain cities. The Miller Lite Free Rides program has developed significant ridership increases in the communities in which it is offered, often nearly doubling the number of people who normally use public transportation during those times. From its initial launch in 1988 in cities including Milwaukee, San Diego, Washington, D.C. and Louisville, Ky., more than three million people have taken advantage of a safe ride through this program. In 2011 alone, we provided 556,675 free rides. Given our success, we expanded the program to new markets, including Green Bay, Wis. during all Green Bay Packer home games, as well as in the Twin Cities on New Year's Eve.

Designated Driver of Colorado Springs

MillerCoors is proud to partner with our local distributor RMC Distributing to support Designated Driver of Colorado Springs (DDCS), a nonprofit driving service aimed at preventing drunk driving. Patrons of sponsoring bars and restaurants can place calls to DDCS to request that DDCS volunteers drive the patrons home in their own cars, free of charge. DDCS helps both patrons and their cars arrive home safely and reduces drinking-related traffic incidents.

Contact DDCS at 719-466-4768 or visit www.noduicosprings.com to learn more about this service.
