Welcome to the MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report. To create America’s best beer company, we must report openly about our ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices. In our fourth annual report, we share all that we have accomplished over the past year and the great plans we have on tap to embrace sustainability at MillerCoors.
Our MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report
is an opportunity for us to communicate our challenges and successes in embracing sustainability at MillerCoors. Our model for sustainable business practices identifies five primary areas of responsibility for growing our business the right way:
This model helps our stakeholders understand which issues are the most relevant for our business, and our report is organized in accordance with this five-part model.
We follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines
version 3.1 as the framework for our annual sustainability report, and we work with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the sustainability of our business, set goals and report on our progress toward those goals. We also share a commitment to the U.N. Global Compact and other external sustainability initiatives
We track our annual progress through our Sustainability Assessment Matrix (SAM)
and our 2015 goals
. SAM is a measurement tool and benchmarking system based on input from the GRI guidelines and U.N. Global Compact principles
. Twice yearly, we report our SAM scores to our parent companies, SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co. Separately, we set goals for 2015 for our most material issues in each of our five primary areas of responsibility. We also annually report on our progress toward our 2015 goals.

Since our company was formed in 2008 as a joint venture of SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co., we have reported annually on our sustainable development activities. Our MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report covers our activities for calendar year 2011. A key exception to this is our SAM score
results, which are aligned with the April 1, 2011, to March 31, 2012, fiscal year of our parent company SABMiller plc.
Prior to our formation in 2008, both our parent companies reported publicly on their environmental activities and policies. In addition, SABMiller plc reported on a wide spectrum of sustainable development practices. The results of MillerCoors annual sustainability report are included in the Molson Coors Brewing Co. and SABMiller plc corporate reports on a segment or geographic basis.
The data in our 2012 report represents the business activities for which MillerCoors has direct control or ownership and the business activities of MillerCoors joint ventures with Ball Corp. and Owens-Illinois.
To develop the 2012 report, we adopted the same scope, boundary and measurement methods used to develop the 2011 report, unless otherwise specified. Specific assumptions measuring or calculating data are explained within the relevant content areas. Note that our report does not include extensive information on our economic performance because that information is already disclosed at length in the annual reports of our parent companies.

External Sustainability Initiatives
Through our parent companies, SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co., we share a commitment to major external initiatives focused on corporate sustainability.
U.N. Global Compact: The U.N. Global Compact offers a policy framework for the development, implementation and disclosure of 10 universal sustainability principles and practices. Both our parent companies, SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co., have joined this leadership initiative, and MillerCoors works to adhere to these principles across all aspects of our business.
Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes: The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. To be listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, companies are assessed based on economic, environmental and social corporate sustainability criteria and then ranked within their industry. Our parent company Molson Coors Brewing Co. is proud to be listed for the first time on the 2011-2012 Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America. Our sustainability activities at MillerCoors contribute to our parent company’s demonstrated commitment to corporate sustainability.
Carbon Disclosure Project: The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent nonprofit organization working to drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable water use through transparency and disclosure of environmental information. Companies that disclose to CDP demonstrate increased awareness of greenhouse gas emissions, business leadership in understanding the risks of climate change and water scarcity, innovations to generate revenue from sustainable products and services, and risk management of potential climate change and water impacts. Both our parent companies, SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Co., respond to the CDP for carbon and water. In addition, Molson Coors Brewing Co. is listed on the CDP’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for U.S. companies that most fully disclose their climate change impacts and the CDP’s Carbon Performance Leadership Index for U.S. companies that best integrate climate change strategy into their businesses. MillerCoors sustainability activities are integral to our parent companies’ reports to the CDP.
